Ranch H1

At the 6 Ranch, we've been raising beef since our family founded it in 1884. The brand that was originally registered in 1906 for our livestock was the 6 iron, hence the name; 6 Ranch.

We are a working cattle ranch and go to great lengths to continue to uphold the traditional methods of raising cattle. We have a Remuda of Quarter horses that we train and use to rope and work cattle. Our only "staff" is our team of border collies that know our ranch and how to move cattle around it better than we do!

We have two Jersey milk cows, Jewel and Snookums, that help us raise a few spare calves each year. We also use their milk to make yogurt, butter, cheese and ice cream. We sell eggs locally from our flock of 24 laying hens.

The Wallowa River flows through our ranch, and in 2009 we worked with the Grande Ronde Model Watershed to complete a restoration project that re-established the natural meanders, improved fish habitat and created additional wetlands for wildlife.
